Okay, so remember my last comp about 10 months ago that I had from
Mexico, and how horrible that 6 weeks was for me? Well ya, my new comp
is from Mexico. AND SHES AWESOME!!!! I LOVE HER GUTSSS!!!! She's sooo
cute, and new and just a little shy girl... which is rough being a
missionary cause you have to talk to a million people, but I'm just
gonna be the example for her, so that she can end her mission on fire!
I gotta teach her all I know so that she can be a leader among her
companions.
We had a really stressful week, seriously, it was UNBELIEVABLELY
STRESSFULLLLL....we had 2 baptisms, like they are progressing SO MUCH,
and they just decided they need more time. like seriously, I'm not even
kidding, we sat at each interview waiting for 2 or 3 hours, it was
rough, but they still need to see a baptismal service I think, they
just haven't had time to come to one, but I know that they will get
dunked right then and there if they saw one. Seriously, these people
are READY!!! They just need to recognize the spirit better.
Ohhhh so this week was Semana Santa, like I said last week, it really
was crappy, no body was home and it was soooooooooooooooooooooo
hotttttttttttttt. seriously, it drained all my energy, I don't know how
I functioned throughout the day! but it happened, and it was tough, we got through it, and a couple of nice members made mexican food for us, so it was worth it, seriously they are the best inactives
EVER. And they came to church, sooooo that was awesome.
We got a sweet Hawaiian in our district now, let's just say we are
best friends. seriously, he only has 3 months in the mish, but he's
rockin it, and he gave us all hawaiian keychains, so it looks like I've
been there,,,, one day... hahahaha
The fun senior couple in our district had a surprise Easter dinner
for us! It was soooo nice, and sooo gross, cause we ate fish. I still
can't eat it, I take little bites then just gave it to the Hawaiian,
you know how they love fish. Hahahahah but seriously it was a nice
little dinner, it was in a hotel, with a pool... oh my gosh. so
tempting. 18 mnths is a long time to not go swimming, I miss it.
hhaha, but it was a really great, we watched the Easter mormon
message, and got a nice bag of candy. I was like, WHAT CANDY FOR
EASTER! THIS NEVER HAPPENS IN MY HOUSE!! hahahah.
During this semana santa, it's actually reallly dumb... they only
celebrate this once a year... well 2 times, cause Christmas, but all
they do is drink and party then repent with the father of the church.
and it's like uhhhh ok, that'll save ya, don't you worry... not. But on
the last day, they burn Judas!!! They make dolls of Judas big or
small, and then burn him in the streets!! They all just get together
and burn him. And it's ridiculous. I think anyways. I dunno a lot of
things have made me grateful that I'm a member of the only true church.
Welp I was reading in Doctrine and Covenants this week and I came across this.
D&C 63:9-11. It's nice. Read it.
Sorry, it's a really complicated email, frusterating week. But ahi
vamos... what the ticos say.

Transfers. Again. April 14,2014
Hey guess what. I'M A MOMMY!!! yup, I'm training, I haven't even met her
yet, but I'm still excited to show her the area, and teach her a little
bit more of missionary work. Her name is Hermana Ramirez. I think... I
guess we will see. haha how embarrassing. but whatever, I learn her
name soon enough.
But back to last week, once I got back, I got to be comps with Hermana
Salas, the one from Argentina for this week... I felt like I was on a
week of divisions.... don't wanna do that. Ever again. She's a great
missionary yeah, buttttttt lets just say God is like hey will you just
learn patients again? ok thanks, now go work. But honestly, I learned
a lot from her, and she leaves this week to her house, so it's all
good.
Welp good news, we had a little 8 year old girl named Dani, and only
her 2 older sisters are baptized, and she wanted to get baptized, but
the dad told her no, right? Anyways, we had a little chat with him and
talked about the importance of baptism, and he was like ok well when
would she get baptized, and we said, this sunday, and he was like,
that's really fast, but if you will come and teach her more, that's
fine. so she got baptized on sunday. it was really a miracle, and she
was such an example to her parents, I know for a fact that they will
be getting baptized soon as well.
While teaching Dani, we learned a few other things as well.... we
learned how to make Pinto!! woot woot, I can officially make all the
Costa Rican food y'all would like when I get home. no big deal. its
realllllyyyyy good... I think that's where I've gained all my weight
from, but seriously I have been waiting a year to learn how to make
this dish. That's what ya get for being a missionary.
I'll just tell ya, that this week wasn't very exciting, everybody was
just really nervous for transfers, so we had to go to a lot of places
to say chao. well obviously just cause my comp is going to her house,
and I'm pretty sure I gained like 21987237 pounds. People just love
givin food here.... we are soooo spoiled. haha
This week is semana santa, the hottest in the whole year, AND, the
week where nobody is in their houses, cause its vacations, and
everybody is goin to the beach, seriously I've heard and have dreaded
this week. I can already see it, NO ONE is out in the streets and all
the shops are closed.... its sooo sad.... so we will see what happens
this week. I'm praying REALLY hard that things will go well :) pray for
us as well!
Hope you all enjoy Easter, just remember why we celebrate it. I'll tell ya
why, not just because I hate huge rabbits that chase ya around, but
this is why.

BECAUSE OF HIM. WE WILL LIVE AGAIN.
And I couldn't be more grateful to have that knowledge.
Use the power of the atonement in your lives, you won't regret it. It's
the best thing that will happen to you. He didn't suffer for nothing.
He suffered for you, and me, and everyone else, so let's not put that
to waste.
I LOVE YOU ALL!!!
I just wanna say that I know for a fact, not with faith, but with
knowledge, that Jesus lives and loves us and is here for us no matter
what. This is HIS church, and it is TRUE. I have NO doubt. The book of
Mormon, IS the keystone of our religion. The spirit testifies of truth
over and over again. Ask and it shall be given unto you. Doubt not
Fear not. remember, we only have "4 minutes" use them wisely.

wow. whatta weekkkkk April 7, 2014
Yeah can I just say that a ton has happened. And that I can't use caps
lock or exclamation points or question marks cause I don't know how to
work the computer here. So just imagine the emotions going through my
head.(Good thing Mom can edit these letters!!!)
Ok general conference was sick right? I mean seriously it was so
direct and choppin everybodys heads. Like come on young adults and
youth get it together. We were talkin about it today with the
secretaries and Hermana Wilkinson and we were like yeah they just gave
up on the parents now, cause they're almost dead. hahaha we are the
next ones. Which is crazyyyyyyyy. I honestly looooovvveeeddd it, and I
decided to actually write down the questions I had this time and I got
them all answered and more, so it was nice recieving a little bit of
revelation.
Somethings that happened this week, I'll just tell ya right now that
I am companionless. My comp went home this morning so I'm just chillin
with the presidents wife here in San Jose. We will see what happens,
I'm pretty sure I'll just be in a trio until transfers which are in a
week or so.
We did a service project at the beach with Karen, we re did her whole
house, I'm not even kidding, it was pretty much a flip that house kinda
moment, then she took us out to lunch on the beach. It was great. 3
cheers for service. woot woot.
After we got home that night, we made a phone call to our
investigators to check up on them, and they were like yeah don't worry,
we are all good here, but we have a question, when can we get
baptized. uhhhhhhh okkkaayyyy yeah you can get baptized real soon we
will help ya with that. It was honestly amazing. I love miracles.
We had a really dead day this week, and I was like wow this really
sucks, and I was like well what are we gonna do, we can talk to people
I guess, and I'm like trying to think how, and I saw a
huuuuuugggeeeeeee frog just chillin in the road, so I picked that
sucker up and we talked to people with it. hahaha it was sooooo funny,
and such a good idea. I loved it, everybody was freakin out. Don't
worry I wore plastic gloves haha
Ok, so a convert as of like 2 months, she's asking for money like
alllllll theeee timeeeee. and I'm like dude, that's not what we do.
We just found out that she is recieving money from 2 other churches.
And that she only got baptized cause the only way she could recieve
help was to be a member. I got sooooooo angryyyyyyy I was like are you
serioussss how can you just do that.... and that explains why she
hasn't came to church in about 3 weeks cause she's been at other
ones.... there goes your salvation maybe.
This same day, when we got home, I was like, I'm mad, and hungry, so
I'm makin pancakes. I was stirring everything in, and I cracked the
egg in, and it came out black, yes it was rotten, I looked at it first
and started screamin, theres a chickennnnnn but then it started
smelling and it was sooooooooooo nasty everybody just started gagging
and the whoooollllleeeee house smelled hahhha so you can imagine how
much more angry I really was. But I'm over it.
Conference we had a gringo room, where we watched it in English,
but the afternoon sessions we all had to sit in the secretaries office
cause the couple that had all the equipment watched it in their house,
it was awfullllllllll. soooo hot and so gross, and soooo slowwww. but
it was a good time, we learned a lot, and during Elder Zwicks message
about how Sariah was irrational, and all that stuff about women, the
elders thought it was thhhheeeee funniestttt thing everrrrrr,
hahahahah if you could only imagine 3 elders and 6 sisters... they got
a good talkin to. haha so funny.
Honestly I can't even tell you how spiritually uplifted and filled
I was with this conference. I learned soooooooooooooooooooooo much I
can't even explain, it all was just boom boom boom, take that Joce. And
I was like okkkkk I'm listening. I can't wait till it comes out in the
magazines so I can just read them over and over again.... haha oh and
Elder Amado, he's our area authority, and he's never spoke in English
with us, but during conference I couldn't understand his English, his
spanish is wayyy better, haha but it was a really good talk. and Elder
Bednars talk, sooooooo goood. and Elder Utchdorf..... ok, I'm done, I'm
sure ya'll know already, but its ok, I hope y'all enjoyed it as well.
my cousin Jakey told me in an email about a week ago, that I need to
find myself out here. not just help others, but as well as just
finding myself. I think I did this weekend, and it's been such a boost
for me to know who I am and what I'm suppose to be doing. I love it,
thank you for your inspiration Jake. love you.
I just wanna thank y'all for all the updates I've been getting. I
enjoy them, cause I won't be hangin on a ledge when I get home when
everything has changed. hahahaha like freakin Jamie gettin married...
what the crap. I thought that would never happen. hahahaha jk jk
welp, love yall. always prayin for ya, and I always feel the prayers
from yall. thank you soooo much.

1 year mark, general conference, april. WHAT ELSE COULD THIS WEEK BRING!?!? March 31
MIRACLES. That's what it could bring. And that's what it will bring. You
can bet your bottom dollar on that.... ok, I'm weird.
This past week was actually a miracle worker as well. But a little
cray cray, and you will be soooooooo surprised to hear what actually
happened. hahahahahh it's soooooooooooo funny....
We went and visited a recent convert, and he just got back from his
sons wedding, and he was telling us all about it and how much fun it
was, and told us what they ate, and he was like, have you ever tried
Chicha? ummm no what the heck is that... well let me go get ya some,
we still have some left. ok cool. It's made out of corn, brown
sugar, water and it sits for a long time... a really long time... it
looked like apple cider, and tasted like it, until it started burning
my throat, and I was like why does it do that? oh because its
fermented..... I drank it all until I found that out.... it was a
whole mug of alcohol that I drank. yeah, you would be surprised too at what
ya find members doin here as well. Don't worry, we teach him the word
of wisdom this week.
That same day, my comp had EXPLOSIVE diarrhea. Like she would have to
run to the bathroom. so we left after taking a little chicha break,
and shes like, I need a bathroom NOW. So we stop at a members house so
she can go, she's like trying to be quiet about it, I'm sitting in the
front room, playing with a little kid and the member was cleaning her
laundry so she wasn't close by. .and all of the sudden we hear..
BOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM. but like and explosive fart, and I just dieeee
laughing and my comp too, and the little boy I was playing with he got
a little scared and then just busted up laughing as well. SHE WOULD
KILL ME IF SHE KNEW I WAS WRITING THIS. sooooo funnyyyyyy. and we just
left after that. hahahahahahha
We had a really spiritual district meeting this week, and it wasn't
what our district leader planned, but the spirit totally took control.
We were asked when was the last time everybody had a spiritual
experience, and everybody was like yesterday, and I was like well it's
always a spiritual experience during my studies, so today, and he was
like good answer, we are all gonna feel the spirit today as well then,
so he chose 2 people to share their experiences about their decision
about going on the mission or how they were truly converted and
gained a testimony. CRAP. it was SOO GOOD, everybody was tearin up and
it honestly it made me actually think about the experiences that I've
had that have strengthened my testimony, and why wouldn't I wanna share
that with others. It made me really think about what I needed to
change as a missionary.
We also had interviews with president this week. My comp once again
was freakin out, like she should just go home and everything would be
better, kind of attitude, and I was like, NO you can't go home, you've
gone this far and your just gonna let it all go? and yup that's what
she did, she goes home in April. With our interviews with president he
made me tell him everything with what was happening with her, and so I
did, and he was like, " I put her with you because I trust you a lot
and have so much confidence in you, I want you to help her save her
mission but only she can decide but I know you can help her be a
better missionary." that's the best thing that I could
ever receive from him, is his trust and confidence and I have it all,
so that made me feel better, cause I was crying like, "its so hard
though, and he was like, I know" hahahaha yup, so after that we got to
work, cause thinking about anything just takes away from the spirit so
I can't focus too much on other things. But once again I will be
getting another companion in 2 weeks. record.
Saturday we celebrated RS. but there wasn't any power, cause somebody
was dumb enough to steal the wires and cords from the church building,
so everybody was sweating, and we ate cake, and then a member that
lives on the beach, was like, when are you gonna visit me? and she was
like we can just leave from here. OKAY. So we went to her house, ocean
front property. drank vanilla coke and ate fruit and she opened up to
us. She's the sweetest lady ever and just needs friends, her son is
serving in Mexico so she's all alone with gringos that are renting out
her rooms for a while. its like a hostel. But honestly it was awesome
watching the sunset. :)
Church was realllllly awesome. We were like praying alllll the time
just to have at least 2 or 3 show up at church, and 5 showed up!!!!! I
was like, OH SHOOT SON there's 5 baptisms for April! I'm so excited,
because they were all the ones that we have been working with to get
baptized but the never came to church, to see them there and have
them actually enjoy the meetings was such a blessing and also since
it was the 5th Sunday we all got together, and a member talked about
ZION and what we need to do to become Zion to receive a stake here.
That's what they're missing, is being united and one in heart, like
Moses 7:18 says. It's really sad that people are so judgemental here
and everybody cares what people say, but they are gonna change that,
cause I know everybody wants a stake, they just have to get rid of
their pride. It'll take work, but I know it will happen, cause they are
really great people here, I love them all.
We went to the beach again today, and we totally forgot that spring
break was happenin.... it was little awkward... if ya know what I
mean, but everybody was talking English which was weird, and nice at
the same time. hahahhah, we went to this market store, and it had
American soda, and Jones. yup, and I had all the latinos try it. they
loved it. who doesn't. hahaha anyways-
Just wanted to share as well in Nehemiah 4. about the city who had to
build and protect their city. and that's what we need to do as well. In
our family, homes, wards, and personally, we need to build our
testimony and protect it with the things we know that will help us
spiritually.
love you all. hope you are all having great vacations.
and FYI. I hit a year mark on Thursday, it's like a birthday, like
shoutouts, or gifts or somethin.... hint hint... ;) hahah nahhh JK JK.
annnnddd. everybody better enjoy conference. don't take notes on what
they all say, but listen to the spirit and make categories on what you
need to work on, and I promise the spirit will testify to you. like I'm
gonna make categories, of, missionary/companion, sister, daughter. I
invite yall to do it :)
can bet your bottom dollar on that.... ok, I'm weird.

mission but only she can decide but I know you can help her be a
better missionary." that's the best thing that I could
ever receive from him, is his trust and confidence and I have it all,
so that made me feel better, cause I was crying like, "its so hard
though, and he was like, I know" hahahaha yup, so after that we got to
work, cause thinking about anything just takes away from the spirit so
I can't focus too much on other things.
